PAT Testing – (Portable Appliance Test) in Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire From £0.54p Per Item
PAT testing (portable appliance testing) is the only way to ensure that your electrical devices are not electrically unsafe and a risk to your employees/customers. It is not a legal requirement to have a PAT test, BUT it is a legal requirement to ensure all electrical devices are safe to use. The most accepted way to ensure this is by carrying out a PAT test. You may also find that if someone were to suffer in an accident caused by a faulty electrical appliance, you not be insured if you do not have any records of testing.
We only use the latest test equipment and fully trained engineers to ensure our testing is accurate and non-disruptive. Once we have completed the testing, you will be provided with a full list of equipment tested. All items will have a sticker that contains a unique I.D number relating to the report, so you have full traceability.
PAT Testing ( Portable Appliance Testing ) requires a thorough visual inspection of the portable appliance to check for:
- Damage to the cable
- Damaged to the plug and casing (overheating, burn marks, discolouration)
- An incorrectly wired plug
- An incorrectly rated fuse
A series of electrical tests will then be performed. Depending upon the class of equipment tests may include:
- Earth Bond Testing
- Insulation Resistance
- Cable Polarity Check
- Earth Leakage Check
- Load Test
- Touch Leakage Test
- Item Function Check
All appliances will then be labelled with the result of the test (pass or fail) and the date of the test/next test. Any remedial action that can be undertaken during testing (replacing plugs/fuses and other small repairs ) will be carried out and re-tested at the time at free-of-charge. More complex faults or damage are reported to the business manager.
All appliances will need to be unplugged for testing.
